Settle Up: who pays whom

1 min readUpdated Aug 4, 2026

End-of-trip Settling up

Track expenses across the whole holiday and settle up once at the end — instead of chasing every coffee.

How it works

  1. 1During the trip, log expenses as normal and allocate each one to the people it's for.
  2. 2When the trip is done, open Settle up and hit Reconcile trip.
  3. 3The system works out the minimum number of transfers needed so everyone is square (a "greedy" match — no unnecessary payments).
  4. 4Every trip member gets an email with their personal ledger: who they owe, who owes them, and the exact transfers to make.

Immediate payment requests

Don't want to wait? Any member can still hit Request payment on a specific expense at any time. The rest stays deferred until settle up.

The trip report

After reconciling (or any time), open Trip report for a printable/downloadable HTML summary of every expense, share and payment. Great to keep for tax or just as a receipt of the trip.

Currency

If people paid in different currencies, expenses are converted to the trip's base currency using live FX rates before reconciling. Set the base currency on the trip idea.
