Currency conversion

Log an expense in the currency you actually paid in. BucketBuddy keeps the original amount and currency, and also stores a converted amount in the trip's main currency so trip totals and shares add up.

Setting the trip currency

Open the trip, choose Edit details, then set the currency. Trip totals, shares and settling up are shown in that currency.

What to expect

• Converted amounts use a recent daily reference rate, not a live market rate.
• Your bank's rate on the day may differ by a small margin, so treat converted totals as close rather than exact.
• The original amount you entered is never changed.
• BucketBuddy keeps the original currency and uses the best valid converted value already available for the expense. If a converted value is approximate, it stays labelled as an estimate.

Tips

• If a converted amount looks wrong, check the date and the currency on the expense.
• An approximate converted amount stays an estimate until you know the final amount charged.
