AI credits explained
1 min readUpdated Aug 8, 2026
What they are
AI credits are the BucketBuddy unit that pays for AI features. One AI action uses some of your credits.
Credits are not money. They cannot be withdrawn, transferred or refunded as cash, and they are not a currency balance.
Who uses them
Only the person who presses an AI button. Everyone else on the trip sees the result for free, and never spends a credit.
Where to see your balance
Open AI credits from your profile. It shows:
- Available — what you can spend now.
- Pending — credits held while an AI action finishes. If it fails, they come back.
- Expiring soon — credits with an end date approaching.
- Credit activity — what was added, used, returned or expired, and for which feature.
When they run out
Your trip and everything already in it are unchanged. You can keep planning by hand — only AI actions need credits. Nothing outside the AI features depends on them.
If you are a beta tester, ask whoever invited you for more.
Where they come from
- Beta credits — complimentary, included with Beta Pro.
- Plan credits — the monthly allowance included with a paid Pro plan, once public plans open.
- Adjustments — occasional corrections we make on your account.
Refunds
Because credits are not money, they are not refundable as cash. If an AI action fails, the credits it was holding are returned to your balance automatically.
